Dr Marijo Wilson
Dr. Marijo Wilson had the most circuitous route to real estate success. First, she studied biology and obtained her B.S. in Botany from Western Illinois University. Dr. Marijo also earned her teacher certification following her student teaching experience at Macomb High School.

Continuing her education, Dr. Marijo received her Masters in Entomology and her Doctorate in Microbiology from Kansas State University. Subsequent to her post-doctoral research at the University of Idaho, Dr. Marijo joined the faculty at the University Of Kentucky. She was the first female faculty member in the Department of Entomology, developed and taught a course in Molecular Genetics and assisted in the creation of the Agricultural Biotechnology Program.
During her tenure at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Marijo studied real estate principals, real estate law, and real estate marketing and became a licensed real estate agent. During this same timeframe Dr. Marijo also received her license in life and health insurance and also earned her securities license. The classic under-achiever.
With an entrepreneurial spirit, Dr Marijo resigned her position at the University to start a pest control business. Dr. Marijo developed a course called the “Pest Control Operator Basic Training Course” to help people learn the business and provide them the skills to obtain the license to start their own pest control business. Within the first couple of years the business purchased two national franchise operations (Critter Control, Inc. and Truly Nolen) in three different markets (Lexington and Louisville, KY and Cincinnati, OH). Dr. Marijo also became the National Director of Training for all new Critter Control franchisees.
Dr. Marijo bought her first property in the late seventies. Properties were added to her portfolio using her own money and personal credit. In 2001, Dr. Marijo invested in advanced investor training and experienced, knowledgeable mentors to rocket her vertically as a real estate investor. In 2004, Dr. Marijo became a National Real Estate Mentor and has worked with Clients in over 250 markets in all fifty States. Dr. Marijo has taught three-day basic real estate training and advanced courses on tax liens, wholesaling, lease options, and creative financing. Dr. Marijo worked the last fourteen years as a mentor and trainer with “Rich Dad Poor Dad” Education. She has purchased tax liens in several States including Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Arizona and Florida. For the past eight years, Dr. Marijo has been helping return unclaimed funds to their rightful owners.
Dr. Marijo lives in Texas with her husband Eric and their dog Jack. She has two sons, two daughters-in-law and two beautiful grandchildren. She loves to travel, attend auctions and interview county officials regarding their delinquent tax procedures. She loves to share her knowledge and experience with clients and takes great pride in their success.
At today’s Grand Expo, Dr. Marijo will be discussing “wholesaling.” This is her favorite subject. The title of her presentation is “Wholesaling for Fun and Big Profits.” It is a particularly powerful strategy for investors who are just getting started, and/or don’t have any money or credit. Everyone should be able to qualify to do wholesale real estate deals! As Dr. Marijo teaches, wholesaling is one of the four basic strategies we use in real estate investing. She will explore when and in what areas to use this strategy. You will be given a "new last name" to use as a wholesale investor and the paperwork needed will be discussed. She will define just what the words W-H-O-L-E-S-A-L-E D-E-A-L means that will help to clarify the step-by-step process. Can’t wait!
